Bengaluru pitch more helpful to spinners now: Chahal
Summary

RCB leg-spinner says leaking runs in the death has caused the team most of the matches

The Royal Challengers Bangalore are in dire straits with six losses from 10 matches. Now, they have to win all four of their remaining league games to stand a chance to qualify for the playoffs. They take on the Gujarat Lions at home next and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said the team will play like they have nothing to lose. “We have to win the remaining four games and we have nothing to lose. This tournament is now like the knockouts for us. If we lose one match, we will be out,” Chahal said. Bowling has been an area of concern for RCB right through this season. Chahal believes it is the runs they have leaked at the fag end of the innings that has cost them most of their matches. “We are giving away way too many runs in the last four overs. Shane Watson has been doing well for us at the death but the remaining two overs have been going for quite a few runs,” he said. “In many matches we have given away runs in the powerplay as well. Even in the last match (against Mumbai Indians) we lost the match in the last three overs. I believe that if we bowl well in the death overs, we will start winning.” While the Bengaluru wicket has been known to be a featherbed, in the last match both teams struggled to get past 150. Chahal believes the pitch has become dry and slow and now there is more assistance for the spinners. “In the earlier matches the wicket was very flat. Now it is a bit dry and slow. Many matches have been played here and because of the light rains the wicket cannot be rolled that well. Yes, it has become slower and now it is a bit more helpful for the spinners.”
