Former Aussie opener replaces Vijay Dahiya, set to assist head coach Jacques Kallis
Former IPL champions have named Simon Katich as their new assistant coach for the upcoming season of the IPL. The former Australian opener will be assisting head coach Jacques Kallis. Kallis welcomed the decision as he said, “It is great to have Simon on my management team. I have played many games against him and his understanding of the game is very good. He is a great asset to have. I really look forward to formulating plans with him and the rest of the team to help KKR to another title in 2016.” Making the announcement, CEO & MD of KKR Venky Mysore said, “Katich is a great addition to ‘Team KKR’. I am sure his T20 experience as well as his well organised coaching skills will come in handy for the KKR players.” Katich carries with himself a wealth of international cricket experience. He retired from T20s to end his playing career in July 2014. He led the Perth Scorchers to the Big Bash title in the 2013-14 season. He has also played in the 2009 edition of the IPL where he represented Kings XI Punjab.
