Preview : M38 - KKR vs SRH
Summary

KKR begin stretch of home games, first up against SRH

What Match 38 of Pepsi IPL 2015 will see the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR and SRH are both part of the mid-table muddle and will be keen to climb up the ladder quickly. Both teams have four wins apiece; but KKR have one point more than their opponents - courtesy the one point from their washed out encounter against Rajasthan Royals. When 04 May 2015, 8p.m. IST Where Eden Gardens, Kolkata The Protagonists KKR’s openers – Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa – have been the team’s pillars. The team generally operates on the principle that one of the openers will bat deep into the innings, allowing the stroke-makers to play their shots. Andre Russell has shown good striking form in the last couple of matches, and it will be prudent of KKR to make the most of his form. On the bowling front, KKR will hope the four overs bowled by Brad Hogg does not cost them too much. Sunrisers Hyderabad too rely on their openers. The Orange Cap holder David Warner, and Shikhar Dhawan are the two-most experienced players in the SRH ranks and need to shoulder the bulk of the responsibility of scoring runs. On the bowling front, Praveen Kumar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been exceptional, particularly in the death overs when they have got their yorkers spot on. Contests to look-forward to Morne Morkel, if he returns to the KKR lineup, bowling to David Warner and Shkhar Dhawan promises to make for an interesting contest. When these two teams came up against each other earlier this season, Warner won the brief battle, scoring 15 runs off eight balls against the KKR pacer, while Dhawan scored six singles and hit one boundary in eleven deliveries. Brad Hogg bowling to the two left-handers too promises to be an interesting contest. Previous Meetings The Kolkata Knight Riders have a slight edge where contests between KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad are concerned. Off the five matches between the two teams, KKR have won three, while SRH have won the remaining two. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, in Visakhapatnam, SRH posted 176 for 4 riding on skipper David Warner’s 91 and his 130-run partnership with his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan. Rains forced the run-chase to be curtailed and KKR were given to chase 118 from 12 overs. KKR could only manage 101 for 4, falling short by 17 runs. Trivia In the eight matches they have played so far, KKR have lost only 39 wickets – the fewest of all teams in Pepsi IPL 2015. The SRH opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner has accumulated 458 runs in eight innings so far – the most by any opening pair in Pepsi IPL 2015. Kolkata Knight Riders have conceded the fewest 50-run partnerships so far in Pepsi IPL 2015; their opponents have only managed four stands of 50 or more. What Next Both KKR and SRH will be seen in action next on May 7. While KKR remain at home and prepare to host the Delhi Daredevils on May 7, Sunrisers Hyderabad head to Mumbai for their match against the Rajasthan Royals.
