T20 is about good starts: Binny
Summary

Rajasthan Royals hope to turn the tables around this season

With 14 points against their name, the Rajasthan Royals are in a strong position to qualify for a place in the final four of the Pepsi Indian Premier League 2015. At the top of the order Ajinkya Rahane has been the vital cog in their lineup setting up games for the team more often than not. Coming back into the side, Shane Watson too has played a significant role with the bat in the team’s fortunes. Not just for the Royals, but the format has shown that the openers’ contributions has more often than not set the game up for a side. Speaking to the media ahead of the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Stuart Binny said, “T20 is all about starting well and having wickets at the back end. I think we have batted well when it comes to Watto (Shane Watson) and Jinks (Ajinkya Rahane), who has been in great form right from the World Cup. Karun (Nair) and Sanju (Samson) hadn’t had a hit, which is why the swap happened in the last game. And it’s come off well for us. The top five are in form and everyone is hitting the ball well. Even our No 5, 6 and 7 are dangerous with Jimmy Faulkner at No. 7.” The Royals are one win away from sealing a place for the playoffs. Speaking about their position, the all-rounder said, “We have spoken about it. It was important to get on to a winning note after five games. We still have to win, still have to go out and play good cricket. If we do that, the win will come.” RR have been a team to beat this season. But in the previous years too RR has got off to a good start and looked set to make it to the playoff but lost momentum later in the tournament. However, in the ongoing season they have kept themselves in the reckoning working their way through a few losses in the middle. “We have reflected on what happened last year. We were in a similar position, where we had to win one game to qualify, but we took it a little too deep. It’s about focusing on what we have in hand and what our opponents are like. We are playing on a pitch that is pretty much suited to the kind of attack we have and the batting that we have. We’ll look to turn the tables this time,” Binny said. They will be taking on SRH at the Brabourne Stadium on Thursday with an aim to confirm their place in the top half of the table. While the batting lineup is more or less a set one, RR hadn’t fielded a spinner in their previous game. The Royals have been known for their horses for courses policy over the seasons. Asked about the team’s bowling combination and conditions since they hadn’t fielded a spinner in their last game, Binny said, “We are not sure how the pitch will play in a day game as yet. It looks pretty much similar, but the last game was a night game and the dew factor came into play. We’ll have to wait till the toss.” Speaking about his game and his growth as a cricketer, Binny said, “Playing well in the Test match in England boosted my confidence a lot. But those days are gone now. It is about being consistent year round. I don't think too much about what has already happened.” “Being part of the setup and sharing the dressing room with the Indian team in the World Cup has made me a better thinking cricketer. It is about knowing what to do in situations, so I’ll come out in the IPL and do what I do best,” he concluded.
