It is almost as if there is no total the Kolkata Knight Riders can’t chase. Every total put up by the opposition is being chased with utmost ease. If it was Robin Uthappa who put his hand up in the previous game against Rising Pune Supergiant slamming 87 (47), it was Gautam Gambhir who rose up to the occasion against Delhi Daredevils with a composed unbeaten 71 to guide his team to victory. Not to forget, Uthappa again in the thick of it with a whirlwind 33-ball 59 that set the ball rolling for KKR after Sunil Narine’s dismissal.

Gambhir and Uthappa have not been strangers while batting with each other, afterall it was the emergence of “Gauthappa” that was instrumental in many successful opening stands for KKR over the years. Friday evening at Eden Gardens was no different as the duo demolished the Delhi Daredevils with their astute stroke-play, chipping on the target with utmost ease. If Uthappa went slam-bam, Gambhir played perfect foil with his gentle nudges, dabs and situational hit to the boundaries. After Uthappa’s departure it was Gambhir who took the lead to finish things off in style for KKR.
